New Year's Work

Wed Jan 28, 2009, 4:32 AM
This year things are gonna be different.

I'm going to be at university; I've currently accepted a bachelor of sofwtware engineering and bachelor of science, but I'll likely drop the science degree to focus on the software engineering.
University means I'll be working on weekends, and I guess not drawing as often. But, you now, seeing as I've got nothing up in the last three weeks, it could hardly get worse, eh?

Art wise I've got a drawing of Kotaro looking at me from my manga folder, begging to be finished. Hopefully I'll get round to it in the next few days and then start on more. I got several Negima books for Christmas, so I've got lots of nice reference :D I've also got some drawings in my new sketchbook which I need to scan and upload. I want to do more conceptual things like the one I need to upload, but I haven't found the inspiration to do more than crummy sketches recently... I need to start coming up with good ideas for a project I'm going to be working on with =Calco and ~LuciferianSoul, a three-way painting.

Musically I've been getting all sorts of new stuff from a variety of sources, mainly mine and Calco's guitar teacher. Awesome stuff like Iced Earth and Satriani and King Diamond. As you do. His band's got a show on in a few weeks, can't wait for it to happen, their stuff is amazingly awesome. Calco and I are currently learning a Firewind song and writing our own song, which is really really fun.

I'd like to be able to put tab for music of my own witing on my website, but that requires fixing my website. It's [link] but don't go there yet, it's not been updated for at least 2 years... In the next few weeks, however, I'm going to try and redesign it, start again from scratch and create a music-blog type site.

It seems that that's about it for now, except to say that I'll be updating my grandfather's deviantART gallery more often now, as I haven't for months. If you don't know, I've made ~TotthJeno for my deceased grandfather who was an amazing artist in many media. I've done this to share his enjoyment of art with other people and bring appreciation to his talents.

Laters all,
Fithakk

Status Update

Mon Dec 1, 2008, 8:13 PM
Hello hello!

Since last journal:
School is completely OVER
I have a JOB
I have a NEW COMPUTER
I have a NEW IPOD

School is finally completely over. I've got NO assessment, and NO reason to go to school at all. That's because I've finally finished year 12, and I'm about to be thrown out into the real world. Which means that, while I currently have a casual job AT A CHICKEN SHOP, I will need a full time job next year. I'm looking at something in the public service, so the pay will be amazing :D

Amazing pay will be amazing at helping me pay off my amazing debt to my parents who lent me money so I could buy this AMAZING computer that I'm using right now. AMAZING! It's very very gun, has 4 CPUs, 4GB RAM, 500GB HD and an ATI HD 4800 with 512MB dedicated. While that may be complete twaddle to some of you, it all boils down to this computer being AMAZING. Oh, and it's in MY room because it's MINE and for the first time EVER I have INTERNET IN MY ROOM!

I also have a NEW IPOD in my room! It's NEW! And 120GB! So I can finally take all my amazing music with me and listen to it anywhere. I was getting so sick of having to choose my favourite 1GB of music =P

Add to that, my AMAZING friend :iconhannahbull: showed me this AMAZING band, Eluveitie. They are, yep, you guessed it, AMAZING! Celtic folk metal. Very, very good!

And now I must be off, beause my year 12 FORMAL is tonight :D

Enjoy yourselves,
Fithakk

Club!!

Woo!
I belong!
:iconkotaro-inugami-club:

Joined with these great guys to spread the love of our favourite dogboy: Kotaro Inugami!

Also been inducted into :iconthe-negima-club:!
I'm really hoping to get lots more Negima stuff done, and it will DEFINITELY happen after christmas, when I'll be getting more Negima volumes. Scanlations are great, but I need paper copies!

Apart from that, I've given up having a regular monthly journal, There's just not enough happening when I need it to be happening >.<
So, whenever I feel like it I'll journalify, but maybe around once in one or two months. Ish.

School's mostly done now, we've got one more term left, and for me that's without english, as I've dropped it. That should help me get higher scores in my maths and physics :D
This holidays I'm hoping to get lots of music done, and I really want to get back into drawing Negima stuff, I've got a picture of Setsuna that's been almost finished for months!

Aaaaand, that's about it, I guess.
See y'all! :D

Lateness Personified

Sun Aug 17, 2008, 10:42 PM
And once again, I'm late for a journal entry.
Only this time I've managed to get 3 months late! >.<

Several things to report:
School!
Music!
Computer!
Art!

So, School:
I'm concentrating more on maths and physics this last semester, but I've also picked up an art.
This is not so much for me to get a score, I don;t give a crap about it, but so that I can learn new techniques and media and such. Mind you, I haven't learned all that much, but I guess it's fun :) I'm also going to be dropping English next term, so I'll be able to have more free time, hopefully for drawing!

Music:
Calco, his cousin and I have been doing awesome group guitar lessons, which has been the most fun I've had in ages. We've been learning awesome stuff, and playing together has been great. In addition to the lessons, I recently received, from all my friends and family, an electric guitar for my eighteenth birthday! It's a Washburn X200 PRO, and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

Computer:
Heh, my old computer died. Hard drive buggered up. Bad. So, we finally got a NEW ONE! Which is gun! I can run Half-life 2 and Counter Strike Source and Team Fortress 2 and even Crysis! For those of you who are interested: Quad processor, 4GB RAM, GeForce 8800 GT, 500GB hard drive. I'm loving it very much.

Art:
As you may have noticed, I've been experimenting with oil pastels, which has been really fun! I find I quite enjoy the medium, and I seem to be able to come up with ideas for that medium easier than pencil. Which is probably just an illusion, but I don't care! In art I've also been working on scratch-paper, which is black, and you scratch away to reveal white. My current project is a version of Risen From The Sea [link] on scratch-paper.

And now for something completely different.

This is some crazy tag thing, which I thought would be fun :) Thanks Catherine and Becky :)

Long Overdue

Thu May 15, 2008, 12:04 AM
Okay, here's a journal that's a month late.
Hurrah!

Not much has happened in the last couple of months, save that my grandmother passed away. :(
She left on her birthday, just after Easter.

While helping my father sort through the house, we came across some of my grandfather's old sketchbooks; he had HUNDREDS!
These ones were more exquisite than most, which has reinforced my desire to create a deviantART account for him, to bring his works to public eye.

On my own art front, I've been experimenting with new styles, and I'm hoping very soon to start experimenting with pastels. I've got several ideas for pieces which specifically require pastels, and I can't wait to have a crack at them.

EDIT: My grandfather's deviantART account has been created. [link] Go and watch, as soon as I can, I'll start putting his art up.

Enjoy :)
